Murphy's Rules of Parenthood

If your baby has an appointment with his or her pediatrician, the day before said appointment, your child is  guaranteed to fall on something and give themselves a huge shiner, along with a great big scrape on the chin.  You know, so you can stand in front of your pediatrician stammering "He fell and banged his eye, I promise!" all the while feeling like a complete moron.

  1. I agree 100%. I have always just said nothing in hopes that they too have had kids/boys. But it sure can be nervewracking!

  2. Agreed. I usually do what Katie said and say nothing, but I've had a few times where the doctor has raised her eyebrows for one son in particular who always has a nasty bruise somewhere (he's my daredevil!) and asked, "so what happened?" The bad thing is when you don't know what happened, they just got a bruise, so you have to shrug your shoulders and say you don't know, which raises even more suspicion.

  3. Ah, yes. This happened all the time with my little sister. She had a doc once ask her, "Now, tell me the truth, what did you do to your daughter?" when in reality, my youngest sis was just a klutz, through and through.

Poor mom. Poor you. Wish I could go to the appt w/you, holding your hand. Know that I do, in spirit.
